John Adams

John Adams has been collecting and telling Victoria’s stories for many years. He is widely recognized as Victoria’s foremost authority on the city’s dark past and haunted present. John is currently writing a book about the history of Victoria’s Chinatown.

Chris Adams

Historical raconteur and member of the Victoria Storytellers’ Guild, Chris delights in sharing tales of Victoria’s colourful past. At an early age, Chris ventured into the haunted graveyards and dark alleyways of Victoria alongside his father, John. After time living in several of Britain’s most haunted cities, Chris has returned to Victoria, bringing with him his experience and enthusiasm for storytelling.

Kate Humble

Kate is a professional historian and trained actor. With undergraduate degrees in history and theatre from the University of Victoria, she did her MA and PhD studies at the University of Toronto. Recently returned to the west coast after two years working in the UK as the head of education and visitor experience for the Royal Armouries Museum, Kate is once again delivering entertaining talks on local history and folklore with her characteristic brand of dynamic storytelling and historical accuracy.

Brynne Croy

Originally from Montreal, Brynne moved to Victoria in 1990. Bitten early by the theatre bug, Brynne spent much of her youth on-stage. She dabbled in musical theatre through high school but has yet to burst into song during a tour. These days, when not Ghostly Walking, she focuses on family, exploring the island by bicycle and taking in local events. Brynne takes great pleasure in sharing interesting stories about the deceptively beautiful city she calls home.

Kirby Delaney

Kirby is a graduate of the University of Victoria’s history program and has worked and studied heritage for over eight years. Kirby was previously a program writer and tour guide for the Maritime Museum of British Columbia, where she focused on the roles of women in Victoria’s story and the social history of British Columbia, but her true passion is in the alleys, basements, and hidden rooms that make Victoria’s history come alive.

Gary Cohen

Gary Cohen began tour guiding with Parks Canada at Fort Rodd Hill about 30 years ago. His next move was providing tours at the BC Parliament Buildings and now, he is part of the Discover the Past team. Gary is also a World Folk Musician and fluently bilingual (French/English). He brings his lifetime of study, his gentle manner and his years as a performer to his tours.

Zach Power

It only took one month of living in Victoria for Zach to find himself suddenly drawn deep into the city’s rich history. He quickly succumbed to a sudden onset of passion for storytelling, and now loves sharing all matters of Victoria and British Columbia in general. Zach has always been associated with the performing arts- performing in many plays and musicals- and has traveled nationally and internationally as a classical trombonist and tenor. With a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria, Zach may just help you learn a thing or two about this weird and wonderful city of ours- but whether those things are insightful or frightful will simply depend on if you attend a day-time history walk or night-time ghostly walk…

Ian Gibbs

Born in the UK and emigrating to Canada with his family when he was young, Ian carries with him the celtic beliefs and gifts of his heritage. Always fascinated by story telling, ghosts and hauntings, Ian found himself more and more assisting friends with their ghost problems and learning much more than simply stories along the way.

Emily Butler

Born and raised in Victoria BC, Emily is very familiar with the eerie ins and outs of her home town. Emily majored in history and theatre at the University of Victoria and earned her post graduate diploma in theatre at Hertfordshire Theatre School in the UK. After spending many years abroad working for the cruise ship industry she is happy to be back to regaling audiences with the truth about this picture perfect postcard of a town.
